SUMMARY:Les Turnbull Book Launch & Talk (part of Heritage Open Days)
DESCRIPTION:“The Return of the Blyth and Tyne” is the new book from local expert\, Les Turnbull\, and is the third volume in The Common Room’s railway heritage series. \nOn Wednesday 16th September\, join us for an informative tour of our historic building with our friendly guides – then pop into the lecture theatre at 1:30pm for a talk about the Blyth and Tyne Railway from local expert Les Turnbull. \nThe book explores the 400-year history and industrial heritage of the newly reopened Northumberland Line\, contrasting its modern passenger service with its origins as a bustling coal and steam railway. Level access is via the entrance on Orchard St with a small platform lift available to avoid 4 steps to the ground floor. \nOpen day tours from 10am-3pm \nAdditional talk information\nMax number of people: 100\nEstimated talk duration: 1 hour
