BBC Radio Newcastle and BBC Look North, North East and Cumbria have taken a great interest in the transformation and redevelopment of Neville Hall.
The Common Room, a charity established in 2017 are leading the transformation and redevelopment of the Mining Institute, a building that is home to one of the biggest Mining collections in the world.
On the 130th anniversary of the Eiffel Tower, The Common Room’s CEO, Liz Mayes and Steve Martin, Vice President of the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers, were interviewed by the BBC on one of their most precious items in the collection; an original copy of the Eiffel Tower assembly plans.
The interview also featured plans about the future of Neville Hall. Liz Mayes says:
‘‘This is a really good moment in the history of this building, we are giving it back to the region that built it, giving it a sustainable future, making it accessible to the public and also using it to inspire young people’’
