The Common Room owns a number of paintings and sculptures, mainly depicting great Northern industrialists with a connection to the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers.

The paintings have recently been conserved thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Idlewild Trust. The paintings are predominantly displayed at height in the Wood Memorial Hall therefore these digital images allow the opportunity to see the details close up for the first time.
