Following on from the success of our involvement in The Great Exhibition of The North, where Neville Hall welcomed over 34,000 visitors to explore North East Engineering, we wish to commission two creative pieces for our Opening Festival.

The Opening Festival will be a high-profile event to celebrate Neville Hall (formerly known as the Mining Institute) reopening to the public. It will showcase our region’s past, present and future industrial engineering prowess to new and existing audiences.

The Common Room are looking to commission two major pieces to be the focus of the festival. The call-out for commissions includes:

  • Artistic Engineering Commission
  • Performance-based Commission

Over the course of 4-day festival programme, members of the public, affiliates and stakeholders will be able to engage with our industrial heritage and be inspired to think about current engineering in the region through these two creative commissions to be displayed within Neville Hall over the festival’s duration.

To apply for this opportunity, please download the Creative Commission Brief and appendix above, then submit your proposal, CV and covering letter to Susan Ford by 23rd March 2020 at 12 noon.
