Celebrate the North East’s incredible engineering through our drop-in bridge-building challenges. Can you get the most out of your materials – like LEGO – to create the best bridge around?
Newcastle is known for its many impressive and varied bridges; they are a huge part of the North East’s proud engineering heritage! This is your chance to walk in the footsteps of great engineers, like Robert Stephenson and Dorothy Buchanan!
But what makes a good bridge? How can it be made strong? How are its materials made to work to their maximum potential? And can you get home without getting your feet wet?
Choose your materials and challenges, and try to create a structure of strength, worthy of the river Tyne itself.
