Accessibility

The entrance via Westgate Road has four external small steps with no hand rails. We have an accessible level entrance just round the corner on Orchard Street, which features a platform lift to the ground floor level or four small internal steps with double hand rails.

Our building has one lift which takes visitors to all levels. You can reach the lift through our foyer.

Baby-changing facilities are located in the accessible toilets on the ground and mezzanine floors.

You are welcome to breastfeed anywhere within our building. If you would like to do so somewhere quieter, please ask a member of staff, who will signpost you to an available room.

All assistance dogs are very welcome throughout the building.

There is seating throughout the building for our visitors. We have seating in our current exhibition space.

In the cafe bar and Reading Room, tables are available at a range of heights to suit all customers including a height adjustable table in the Reading Room for wheelchair users.

Ticketing

Public access to the Wood Hall and Lecture Theatre varies, as these rooms are available for private hire.

In order to guarantee access, it is best to book a visit on one of our General Admission days, or via a tour.

Our programme of educational and family activities are free admission but still ticketed, we always recommend booking in order to secure a place, before we reach maximum capacity.

We run our ticketing through Eventbrite. To book a ticket, or to find out more information about ticketing, click here.
